Derek Chan

Derek received the B.S.E. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University in 2017. He continued his studies at Duke, and received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering in 2019 and 2023, respectively. From 2019 to 2020, he served as an Ultrasonics Student Representative for the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society. He was awarded the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award for Individual Predoctoral Fellows (F31) by the National Institutes of Health in 2021. His research interests are in combined ARFI/SWEI techniques, prostate elasticity imaging, and machine learning in medical ultrasound.

Outside of lab, Derek enjoys running, trying new restaurants, and going to the movies.
